Introduction When I first read the instructions for this assignment, I was intrigued because I wasn't sure what I was going to do. I knew that I wanted to use a picture from my photostory, but a lot of the area in the studio is black. However, when looking through my pictures, I came across a photo that had pops of color throughout the entirety of the scene. Me(me) is Not Impressed: The Kardashians By: Riley Manion When first hearing about this assignment I was excited because I knew that I wanted to do something with a specific meme. However, as a fan of the Kardashians, after watching their season premiere, I witnessed the perfect moment to turn into a meme. With everything going on in the world right now, I feel that this could help bring light to an intense situation. For this assignment, I found an image of Kim and Kourtney mid fight, and I edited myself in the background, looking on, very unamused. I used the selection tool to get myself alone and then used the duplicate layer section to add it to my Kardashian background layer. I then made it a smart object and resized it to look more natural. Using the selection tool again, I copy and pasted a section of the bed to make it look like I was standing behind it and not on top of it. This assignment brought an entire new perspective to me about instagram filters. I rarely post photos with filters, but if I do, I usually just glance over most of them until I pick one that I feel looks the most natural. However, I have come to the realization that instagram filters can serve much more of a purpose than to just make people's eyes look bluer or their skin look tanner. They can add a specific tone or mood to a photo, than not even positioning or photo can inflict. When deciding what type of filter I wanted to create, I wanted something that could emphasize certain aspects of the photo that I originally did not capture, such as color and highlights. What did I use in Photoshop? When deciding how I wanted to make my filter, I knew the first thing that I should tackle was curves. A Picture Says A Thousand Words: Pictures are often used to depict emotion and relay a message to an audience. In this exercise, I used different composition techniques to bring attention to the pictures, and make them seem like they have more importance than just what is to eye. Whether it be something that we don’t usually see or something we see everyday, there are plenty aspects to photography that bring meaning to a photo. Symmetry: This photo shows symmetry with a majority of the focal points have something that is the same, but on the opposite of the photo. Although not exactly everything is symmetrical, like the building, the main aspects of the photos show symmetry. The chairs, the lines on the ground, and the fountain all show symmetry in a great way.
